This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of the missouri ozarks and extreme southeast kansas.

. Day one. Today and tonight.

The hazardous weather risk level is. Elevated.

Weather hazards expected.

Elevated extreme heat risk. Limited lightning risk. Limited flooding risk.

Discussion.

A frontal boundary will become stationary from central missouri into southeast missouri later today. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop over the missouri ozarks and southeast kansas this afternoon and continue into the mid to late evening. Due to weak shear in the atmosphere. Severe storms are not expected. Slow movement of storms and high moisture content in the atmosphere will lead to an isolated flash flooding risk with the stronger storms that develop.

Afternoon temperatures should reach the low to mid 90s today with heat index values reaching the upper 90s to around 103 degrees.

. Days two through seven. Friday through Wednesday.

Stronger storms will likely develop well north of the area on Friday but could form into a thunderstorm complex and move into central missouri late in the day and into Friday night. The main severe weather risk would be with damaging winds.

Hot and humid conditions are expected over the weekend where temperatures will begin to reach the mid to upper 90s with heat index values of 100 to 107 degrees.

. Spotter information statement.

Spotter activation will not be needed through tonight.
